Acute coronary syndrome in a 47-year-old women without cardiac risk factors
An under-diagnosed cause of acute coronary syndrome
A 47-year-old women without traditional cardiovascular risk factors presents with acute coronary syndrome and sudden syncope. The clinical presentation, ECG changes and rise in troponins suggest a non-ST-elevated myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). Coronary angiography is suspicious for a spontaneous coronary artery dissection and underlying fibromuscular dysplasia is diagnosed.
