An uncommon diagnosis of jaw pain.
The medical history of an 21-year-old male patient with jaw pain and a restricted mouth opening is reported. The evolution of the disease and the differential diagnosis are discussed.
Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disease, usually characterized by single or multiple osteolytic bone lesions presenting invasion with Langerhans cells with or without extraskeletal lesions. Its exact etiology is unknown.
Subject to its distribution, the variety of possible clinical manifestations remains large. The treatment of LCH varies on the basis of its extent and severity.
