Lias
Journal of Early Modern Intellectual Culture and its Sources

Lias (Dutch for file; French: 'liasse') provides a platform for the publication and study of primary sources of relatively small size, relating to the cultural and intellectual history of Early Modern Europe. Lias is devoted to the publication of sources of about sixty pages or fewer which concern the history of learning and education in the broadest sense: the artes liberales, the studia humanitatis, philosophy, theology, law, medicine, and the (new) sciences, as well as sources concerning educational institutions, libraries, the Republic of Letters, Academies and Societies. Its chronological scope runs from the fourteenth to the early nineteenth century, that is, from early Humanism to the late Enlightenment. We welcome editions of source texts in their original languages. Introductory material and footnotes must be written in English, but French sources may be accompanied by an introduction and notes in French. A modern translation of the source, whatever the original language, is not required, but we do ask for an English synopsis of each text.
While particular attention will be given to editions and studies of unpublished sources which meet these criteria of length, time, place and language, studies based on neglected printed sources, or on unknown archives, may also be accepted.

Lias is abstracted and indexed in the Arts & Humanities Citation Index and Current Contents/Arts & Humanities; International Bibliography of Periodical Literature on the Humanities and Social Sciences / IBZ online; Dietrich's Index Philosophicus; ERIH PLUS (European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences); Scopus; CrossRef; Thomson Scientific Links.

Lias is a peer-reviewed journal.
